Art, a product that shows and describe emotions involving human activities and creations including sculptures, paintings and many more.  Nowadays, creativity has expanded, creation being created, beautiful sightings refreshed our eyes, art everywhere. But, do you know? Art has been created by lots of people in the old era, such as the Ancient and Medieval period.

 

Cave PaintingEach time period has different characteristics and types of art.  Ancient art refers to the different kinds of art, created by different kinds of cultures from ancient societies. Cultures like Palestine, Greece, India, Egypt, Persia, Rome,  China, and Mesopotamian has created much art. Though, different cultures have their own different types and characteristics. For example, ancient Egypt art was known as the clear lines and shape that describes their society.  And speaking of “describes society”, every art from different culture created is important to them, because of their creation of art describes their society. In the ancient era, arts that are featured were paintings, drawing, sculpture, modeling, and paintings.  Though there are only three main form types of art, there were cave paintings, rock engraving, and miniature figurative carvings.

Starting from the middle age, art has evolved. Those “evolved” art was divided into three main periods with three different types and characteristics of arts.  Byzantine Art, Romanesque Art,  and Gothic Art. 

  • Byzantine Art:

In the 4th – 15th century CE, was the period of the Byzantine Art. It refers to the body of  Christian Greek products from the Eastern Roman Empire. Art includes architecture, paintings, and other visual arts focused on the theme of religious expression.

 

 

 

  • Romanesque Art:                                                                                                                Approximately around 1000 AD – 12th century.  Featuring Roman and Byzantine buildings and other local traditions, the art period was characterized as vigorous style in both painting and sculpture.                                                              Image result for romanesque art

 

  • Gothic Art:                                                                                                                                          In the 12th century AD, a style of medieval was created in Northern France. The development of Gothic architecture and structure with the different kinds of characteristics, like a stone sculpture, large expanses of glass, clustered columns, sharply pointed spires, intricate sculptures, ribbed vaults, and flying buttresses. Though at that period, the main characteristics are the ogival or pointed arch.

In conclusion, Art is important to society. There are many reasons why, it communicates across barriers of language, class, and culture. Just like art in the old era, every art from the different cultures created is important to them, because of their creation of art describes their society.
